Assistant Guide

We are looking for a caring, outdoor-loving, crafty Assistant to help us in our one-classroom schoolhouse ( 8 children). Reggio, Waldorf, or Nature assistants are welcome to apply.

Skills we are looking for: Reliability, kindness, caring, love for the outdoors (including winter, as we are outside every day), and a great work ethic.

Qualifications: CPR and First certified/Wilderness CPR and First Certified. Minimum of 6 MSDE credits on early childhood education or nature-based training from a certified entity. One year of experience working with children in a formal childcare facility. Ability to walk, lift, and pass federal and state background checks. Montessori Interns are welcome to apply for a self-directed internship (must have experience working in a childcare setting ). Good interpersonal skills are necessary. A positive, open attitude toward all children is required. Bilingual (English and Spanish a plus, or Spanish only).

Job Responsibilities: • Responsible for helping prepare the classroom environment, materials, and equipment; Facilitate a respectful environment for children by advocating conflict resolution and modeling Grace and Courtesy. Stay within the classroom budget every year. Ensure children’s safety and maintain respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Assist in the planning and maintenance of the outdoor environment. Provide first aid as needed and complete appropriate forms for parents. Comply with all continuing education and Office of Childcare requirements. Assist with sanitation, napping supervision, and performing hazardous assessments of the outdoor classrooms.

Hours: Part-time

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
